Chiropractic
What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing and treating neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manual and instrument assisted adjustments and manipulation of the spine and extremities. Chiropractors aim to improve joint mobility and alignment along with overall health to alleviate pain and enhance function.
What is a Sports Chiropractor?
Our chiropractors have completed additional education and medical emergency training in addition to the standard Doctorate of Chiropractic education. Our chiropractors are CCSP trained and have successfully completed the 300-hour Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician program offered by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians covering on field emergency medical management and treatment of sports injuries. This is the distinction of a chiropractor who is truly trained in sports medicine and working with athletes.
What conditions can chiropractic care treat?
Chiropractic care is commonly used to treat any musculoskeletal condition which may include back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint and extremities issues. Our sports chiropractors often treat and manage conditions related to posture, acute and chronic sports injuries, muscle strains, ligament sprains, and certain types of nerve pain. However, chiropractors may work in conjunction with other healthcare providers for more complex or systemic conditions.
What happens during a chiropractic adjustment?
During an adjustment, the chiropractor uses their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled force to a specific joint in the spine or extremity. The goal is to improve range of motion, enhance joint function, reduce nerve irritability, and decrease muscle spasm. Adjustments are quick and shallow movements through the joint, which often results in a popping sound. This is known as a cavitation and is the release of your body's naturally occurring gasses from the synovial (joint) fluid. The body also releases endorphins simultaneously, often leading to an immediate feeling of relief.
What if I'm nervous of getting adjusted?
We have many alternative options that our sports chiropractors can use to help improve alignment and joint mobility without needing to "pop" or cavitate the joints. We offer low-force techniques such as Activator technique, Arthrostim, and Flexio-distraction to improve joint range of motion without the quick pop-inducing movements. Our chiropractors are also trained in manual therapy techniques such as Active Release Techniques and Graston Technique to decrease muscle tension, alleviate pain and improve range of motion of the joints.
How many chiropractic sessions will I need?
The number of chiropractic sessions required varies depending on the individual's condition, chronicity of pain, health goals, and response to treatment. Some patients experience relief after just a few sessions, while others may need ongoing care for long-term benefits. Your chiropractor will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Will I be sore after a chiropractic adjustment?
Most patients do not experience pain during or after chiropractic adjustments. Some may feel mild discomfort or soreness, similar to what you might feel after exercise. This typically resolves within a day or two. Chiropractors strive to ensure that adjustments are as comfortable as possible.
Can chiropractic care help with chronic conditions?
Chiropractic care can be beneficial for managing chronic conditions such as chronic back pain, arthritis, and old sports injuries. While it may not cure chronic conditions, it can help alleviate symptoms, improve function, and enhance overall quality of life. A chiropractor will work with you to create a management plan that complements other treatments you may be receiving.
Can I go workout and train after an adjustment?
Of course, live your life! Our chiropractors may offer training modifications, or alternative exercises to complete if your body is recovering from an injury.
